Yoga is an ancient unique form of
exercise which originated in India. Yoga not only
helps facilitate optimal physical function of the
body, but also brings tranquillity to a person’s life
due to its calming effect on the mind.
Yoga can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age,
shape, gender, religion or physical capabilities.
There are no particular diets required for the
practice of yoga, however moderation in one’s
consumption of food and drink is highly recommended.
In Australia the Bureau of Statistics reported that
2.1% of the population practiced yoga in 2003 in
other words 311,000 people.
Mental Health is a major concern in today’s society
and meditation significantly assist a person to
maintain balance and harmony in their life.
Meditative practices can be achieved in many ways
such as, listening to a soft music, guided
relaxations, visualization, focusing on an object,
through breathing control, prayer, mantra, gentle
dancing or walking etc.
